Art trail
A linked series of artworks, often sculptures or murals, arranged along a walkable or bikeable route and designed to be experienced in sequence.
A trail turns scattered works into a destination. Individually, a dozen sculptures spread across a downtown are things you might pass; connected by a route, a map, and a story, they become an afternoon. That's exactly what tourism boards and business districts are usually after.
The working parts of a good trail are unglamorous: a route that's actually pleasant to walk, wayfinding that survives without a brochure, and a stop list that's maintained when works move or come down. A trail that leads people to an empty plinth costs more goodwill than no trail at all.
